Course Overview
Acquire knowledge and skills required to perform third-party audits of ISO 45001. This acquired skill may also be utilized for first and second-party audits.
Students who successfully complete this course will satisfy the training requirements for initial Registration as CQI-IRCA OHSMS Provisional auditor.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, delegates will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of an Occupational Health & Safety Management System, of OHSMS standards, of management system audit, of third-party certification, and the business benefits of improved performance of the OHSMS.
- Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up an Occupational Health & Safety Management System audit in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021, as appropriate
- Plan, conduct, report and follow-up an audit of an occupational health and safety management system to establish conformity (or otherwise) with ISO 45001, and in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021 where appropriate.

Pre-requisites
Please note that CQI-IRCA recommends that learners have knowledge of the requirements of ISO 45001:2018 before they start this course. This course teaches auditing principles using ISO 45001, therefore a basic knowledge of ISO 45001 and its application within a related organization is strongly recommended, together with internal audit experience.
Before attending this course, delegates are expected to have knowledge of the following occupational health & safety management principles and concepts:
- The purpose and benefits of an Occupational Health & Safety Management System
- Basic knowledge of managing OHSMS through Risk & opportunities
- Basic awareness of common examples of relevant national and local OHSMS related to legal requirements.
- Commonly used OHSMS terms and definitions as given in ISO 45001:2018
- Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 45001:2018
