Course Overview
Acquire knowledge and skills required to perform third-party audits of ISO 27001. This acquired skill may also be utilized for first and second-party audits.
Students who successfully complete this course will satisfy the training requirements for initial Registration as CQI-IRCA ISMS Provisional auditor.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, delegates will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of an Information Security Management Systems, of Information Security Management System standards, of management system audit, of third-party certification, and the business benefits of improved performance of the Information Security Management Systems.
- Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up an Information Security Management Systems audit in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021, as appropriate.
- Plan, conduct, report and follow-up an audit of an Information Security Management Systems to establish conformity (or otherwise) with ISO27001, and in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021 where appropriate.

Pre-requisites
Please note that CQI-IRCA recommends that learners have knowledge of the requirements of ISO 27001:2013 before they start this course. This course teaches auditing principles using ISO 27001, therefore a basic knowledge of ISO 27001 and its application within a related organization is strongly recommended, together with internal audit experience.
Before attending this course, delegates are expected to have knowledge of the following information security management principles and concepts:
- The purpose and benefits of an Information Security Management System
- Basic knowledge of managing ISMS through Risk & opportunities
- Basic awareness of common examples of relevant national and local ISMS related to legal requirements.
- Commonly used ISMS terms and definitions as given in ISO 27001:2013
- Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 27001:2013
