Course Overview
Acquire knowledge and skills required to perform third-party audits of ISO 9001, in accordance with the audit methodology of ISO 19011. This acquired skill may also be utilized for first and second-party audits.
Students who successfully complete this course will satisfy the training requirements for initial Registration as CQI-IRCA QMS Provisional auditor.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, delegates will be able to:
- Describe the purpose of a Quality Management system, including the principles of QMS, risk & opportunities, legal requirements applicable to the product.
- Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up on Quality management system audit in accordance with ISO 19011 (and ISO 17021 where appropriate).
- Plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit of a Quality management system to establish conformity (or otherwise) with ISO 9001:2015 and in accordance with ISO19011 (and ISO 17021 where appropriate).
- Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up a quality management system audit in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
- Plan, conduct, report and follow-up on a QMS audit in accordance with ISO 19011 and by interpreting ISO 9001:2015.
- Manage the duties of a lead auditor in their organization or for a third party.

Pre-requisites
Please note that CQI-IRCA recommends that learners have knowledge of the requirements of ISO9001:2015 before they start this course. This course teaches auditing principles using ISO 9001:2015, therefore a basic knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and its application within a related organization is strongly recommended, together with internal audit experience.
Before attending this course, delegates are expected to have knowledge of the following Quality management principles and concepts:
- The purpose and benefits of a Quality management system
- Basic knowledge of managing QMS through Risk & opportunities
- Basic awareness of common examples of relevant national and local QMS related to legal requirements.
- Commonly used QMS terms and definitions as given in ISO 9001:2015
- Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 9001:2015
